2020 was undoubtedly the craziest year in recent memory. Carbon emissions were down drastically due to global inactivity spurred by COVID-19. There is hope and optimism for 2021. Putting 2020 in the past - Will 2021 be better or worse?
Carbon capture and "net zero" is all the craze at the moment. Many believe these avenues will lead to climate change solutions. However, we examine the fine print in this video and put those ideas to the test. Do they stand up to the reality we face when it comes to solving climate change and averting complete and utter extinction?
Lab grown meat is now catching traction. Recently for sale in Singapore, some feel this is not a safe way to produce and consume meat. We discuss the potential upside of eliminating how agriculture is currently operating and what implications this has in the fight against climate change. Would you eat meat grown in a petri dish?
2020 has been a real wake up call - and it's not even over yet! In this video we go over the many reasons why climate change is more complicated than just throwing science at it and hoping for a quick fix. Come join the discussion and let us know what solutions you can think of to fix the dire climate change situation we currently face.
Science and technology are now reaching for science-fiction born answers. Can we create solutions from abstract ideas without breaking the bank and/or making things worse? Come find out as we discuss the potential of harnessing solar power above Earth's atmosphere and attempt to beam it back down to the planet.
Coronavirus has affected millions of people around the globe. Economies have been stifled and unemployment is up. Because of this, green house gas emissions fell by 9.2%. But when we look further, we can see that the true number is much less based on forest fires and the carbon release that results from such ongoing blazes. Can we meet the Paris Accord agreement without a completely collapsed economy and massive unemployment? Let us know what you think!
I'm certainly not an expert on the subject of climate change and the science behind it. However, I believe there is a lot of common sense that can be gleaned from the information available to us all. Just take a look at what's going on around the world concerning our ecosystems. Animals are dying in mass, ocean life is washing up on all coasts, droughts are expanding, storms are strengthening, floods are crippling infrastructure, disease is exploding... It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what's going on here. Or are we just reading too far into it?
This is the video that started it all for the channel reboot in 2020. Scientists are alarmed at the rate in which methane is being released from melting ice and permafrost. This is especially concerning for the Arctic which has been 5C above average for the year. In this video we discuss the possibility that these findings are an omen for what's to come of the entire planet - and in short order! How accurate are current scientific projection models?
This is an old video from when I first started my channel over 4 years ago. Here we discuss methane release from permafrost. It's very interesting how relevant the video is to this day! Enjoy an old video from the archives of my original channel format circa 2016.
